Hi, I’m Robert, founder of Protean Engineering Solutions. I started this company after spending years working in industrial environments where I saw a consistent gap between how control systems are designed and how they actually need to be maintained in the field.

My background is in controls engineering and industrial automation, working with existing production systems, retrofits, and troubleshooting across live industrial environments. Most of my experience has been on the floor — working directly with machines that need to run, not theory or lab conditions.

I’ve spent a lot of time supporting legacy systems, upgrading outdated controls, and stepping into situations where downtime wasn’t an option.

Over time, I noticed a recurring issue in the industry: companies often didn’t need full system replacements — they needed practical, targeted controls support that kept existing equipment running reliably. Too often, downtime was extended because support was slow, overcomplicated, or disconnected from how the system actually operated in the field.

Protean Engineering Solutions was created to focus on exactly that gap — supporting existing industrial systems with practical controls engineering, fast response, and retrofit solutions that prioritize uptime and cost efficiency.

The goal is not to reinvent systems unnecessarily, but to make what already works run better, longer, and more reliably.

My approach is straightforward: understand the system as it exists, identify the real issue quickly, and implement solutions that are practical for both operations and maintenance teams.
